Permount Mounting Medium is the medium of choice for both mounting and long term storage of slides. Permount consists of a synthetic resin dissolved in toluene. Its low viscosity gives bubble-free preparations and a thinner adhesive layer for optical clearity. A refractive index near that of fixed protein maintains the image free of diffraction halos and other optical imperfections. Permount Mounting Medium preserves dye color, cohesiveness, and adhesive quality with age. An antioxidant is included to prevent formation of annular rings.
